Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I know if this workshop is right for me?

If you are struggling to understand the process of submitting to and applying for gallery shows but would love to get your art out in the world, this workshop is for you. If you need to learn better tactics for building a cohesive body of work, documenting that work and keeping your files organized, this workshop is for you. If you need help writing or refining a powerful artist statement and putting together a CV, this workshop is for you! More information can be found here.

Q: What are the 4 parts of this workshop and how do we go through them?

The four sections of this workshop are Developing a Body of Work, Writing Your Artist Statement and CV, Building Your System (and Staying Organized!) and Applying to Galleries with Confidence. The workshop was designed very intentionally for each section to build upon the other. If you are booking the Full Access Pass, each section will be completed in order before we move onto the next one. Options are also available to book 1 or 2 sections at a time.

Q: How long is the Full Access Pass workshop?

From the time you book and get your initial email from Kaylan, you'll begin completing the first section of the workshop activities, Developing a Body of Work, right away. As noted above, each section must be completed before the next one is accessed. Some sections may take you more time than others, and Kaylan will be communicating with you directly to guide you through. You can expect the Full Access option of this workshop to take a minimum of 4 weeks. Out of respect for Kaylan's time (and yours!), there will be a maximum time frame set at 8 weeks in which the workshop must be completed.

Q: What do I need to have before I begin this workshop?

It's most helpful if you have a consistent art practice and a clear vision for your work (though your vision can and will certainly be refined over the course of the workshop process). You must have a google account (free and easy to set up!) to access the documents and schedule the video calls with Kaylan.

Q: Where does this workshop take place?

The workshop is entirely done online and in the comfort of your own home! As stated above, it is essential that you have a google account. After booking, Kaylan will be creating a google drive document just for you where she will be uploading the PDF and Video files, notes, and additional information that you will need.

Q: What are the 3 one-on-one coaching experiences about?

This workshop is most effective when we can connect on a personal level! In the Full Access version of the workshop, there are 3 coaching sessions included. The first takes place during the first section of the workshop, Developing a Body of Work. You and Kaylan will get to know one another over video and have a discussion about your artwork and your experiences.

This video chat will be 45-60 minutes in length. The second coaching session will take place during the section section of the workshop, Writing Your Artist Statement and CV. It will take place over google chat so that Kaylan can edit and dialogue with you about your artist statement and writing effectively. This coaching session will be 60-90 minutes in length.

The third coaching session will be a wrap up video chat discussing your applications to gallery shows, your plan going forward and your experience in the workshop. It will be 45-60 minutes in length.
